Lady
Renamed Rosie
Adopted June 30, 2001
18 Month old Female Rough Coat.
Lady is a young dog who needs a real good loving home. She had
a recent litter of pups when we picked her up and very little
training. She was friendly to us and if good with kids.
She is up to date on all shots, has been wormed and treated for
fleas and ticks. She was raised outside and would sure appreciate
an inside loving home, but will do fine outside with lots of shade,
water and good food.
Her coat will be gorgeous when fed properly, and she receives
the love and nutritions she deserves. She walks okay on a leash,
but could use some work.

Letter from my
new family - 4/2002
|
Rosie is doing great- the hips have just had those 2 flare ups.
I am looking into starting her on Glucosamine to help the joints.
Apparently it builds up the fluid between the joints to alleviate
pain.
She is such an amazing dog- we absolutely LOVE her and are so
thankful to you for all you do! :) She is truly part of the family
and gives our youngest son a kiss every night after he is asleep-
too much. :)
She is SO into food still too. Cannot help herself when her nose
starts going.
Hope you are well and Rescue is going well too!

Update: 6/2002
Hi Elizabeth!
It is June- I can't believe that we have had Rosie for a whole
year! That went very quickly. We took her to Fort Funstun yesterday-
and she just loves it. She does well with the other dogs coming
up to her for about an hour and then she loses her patience it
seems. She does it every time. She will be great until that hour
mark then she will growl or nip at any dog that comes up for a
sniff. But before the hour mark she doesn't seem bothered, in
fact, she has no reaction. Interesting.
We took her to John's preschool and the kids took turns petting
her and she loved it. I had a hard time keeping her off of her
back, she just wanted the kids to rub her belly. :) She is becoming
quite a watch dog too- strange to see her bark at people over
the fence- b/c she rarely barks- in fact when we hear her we jump
to check and it is always something. Steve thinks she needs to
be outside more...he found a "Rosie hair" on the butter
at dinner- gross I know- but no need to banish her from the house!
:) So good thing Steve isn't home during the day and most nights
he is still out studying for the bar exam. :) So she's in all
the time. :) I have gotten good at vacuuming in a flash. :) She
is so great Elizabeth- I am thankful to you and your group of
volunteers. I am taking her in this August or her 3 year Rabies
and a check up. She has only had those 2 flare ups with the hips.
Thank goodness! I remember all that we did last summer to get
her up to par- it seems so long ago! I have been reading posts
from a Saint Bernard yahoo group and it is interesting how similar
rescue stories are. The breed itself- really has strong similar
traits for each dog- the leaning, belly rubs, drool, etc! Funny
to read the posts.
I even "met" Scooby's rescue mom online- she was so
nice. We traded notes on the dogs- Scooby was much more skittish
it seems. Never can be too careful I guess.
So sad- but they love the new puppy! Fun and great! I keep trying
to convince Steve that we should get a male smooth coat- but I
am getting nowhere so far- but I am persistant...who knows. We
are actually hoping to be pregnant with #3 this fall, so maybe
I've got enough going! I am also teaching resource this year 3
days a week this fall too. I have to say that Rosie is LOVING
being the only dog- she shows no excitement at other dogs- total
indifference! :) She likes getting all the treats to herself!
I just went on your site and can't believe how many have been
adopted out!!!! Congrats! You guys are amazing. Have all worked
out? What percentage of new homes don't make it? So interesting.
If we ever get down South I would love to help out. The northern
Ca rescue group is in Reno, NV- then there is Darlene in Clearlake-
both so far.
Hope that you are doing well Elizabeth!
Take Care!
