Dakota
6-8 Month Old Male Rough Coat

Dakota came to us from a high-kill animal shelter. What a wonderful, young
boy he is. Dakota is going to be a big boy. He will most likely need some
obedience, but what a gentle, young giant he is. He is just a pup but will
no doubt turn into a beautiful male saint bernard! Dakota will get adopted
quick...so if you want to be his forever home, fill out an application now.

Dakota with his forever family and Rosie!

Update 8/5:

We changed Dakota's name to Thunder. At first we put a kiddie gate in the hallway to our bedrooms at night so I could keep a good eye on him. But he had to go out so much and was too hot, so the last two nights I haven't had the gate up at night, so he could have free range of the house. No Problems! I would get up to see where he was from time to time during the night, and he was fine.

He likes to sleep in the bathroom and kitchen alot cause it's cooler. He goes out to go potty by himself whenever he needs to, and has not had an "accident" in the house yet!

Every morning when Rosie gets up, she goes outside and starts running laps in the yard. Thunder stays out of the way for the most part cause one day she was running and ran into him and he cried. After Rosie settles down a little bit, Thunder charges her, they both flop to the ground and do some mouth wrestling. Major Cute!

We gave him a bath on Sat. and I spent alot of time grooming him. His legs are still a little yellowish, but he is still a very pretty and sweet boy! And Yes, he is a keeper! :)

Talk to ya later, Laurie

Update 9/21/2002:

Rosie and Thunder are doing good. They get along well together, and it is so cute to watch them play! Thunder wants to play a little more that Rosie does, but she puts up with him anyway or just walks away and lays down in a small area where he can't get to her as easy. There have been no fights or "serious" growling. For a while, Thunder wanted to play with Rosie around 3am! So, I would have to put Rosie in our bedroom and close the door. Then I would open my son's door so he could be close to a human if he wanted and about an hour later, I would check on him again and he was usually asleep, so I could open our bedroom door again. Not getting as much sleep as before, but I know they are still puppies and will get better. In fact, last night is the second night in a row that Thun has slept through the night since we got him. He also likes to get into the bath tub and lay down (see attached pic). He is so funny!

I do still think he might have HD from the way he runs and walks. Hopefully with good nutrition, safe environment, and alot of TLC, he will be ok. We took him and Rosie to my Mom & Dad's last week for a short swim lesson. I also thought he might need some hydro-therapy in the future, so I wanted to see if he liked the water. They both did pretty good. Well, I better wrap it up. I know you guys have been up to your necks in Saints and probably super busy. God Bless you all. Talk to ya later.

Laurie :)
