(renamed Trixie)
4 Year Old Female Smooth Coat
Casey is a beautiful, young female smooth coat. Casey comes to
us from the Ventura shelter. She has a sweet, loving temperment
& seems to get along well with everyone she meets, (2 and
4 legged creatures both!)
Casey has not been with us long, but we are learning more about
her each day. Please help this loving creature find her forever
home.

Trixie Update: 1/2003 |
Hello Jackie!
Just to let you know we adopted Trixie yesterday and it is going
very well. She is laying right here at my feet as I type this.
She has been walked 6 miles (over three sessions) today and seems
disappointed that this is all. We live in a very quiet, secluded
neighborhood and we can walk for a couple miles without a car
passing us. She is getting better by the minute here. She spent
yesterday pacing the house and yard getting used to the new surroundings.
She ate like a horse and we continue to give her as much food
as she wants to put some badly needed weight on her. I wish we
knew her story. I was told by Brad that she came from a shelter
in Ventura and was placed with some @#$!% who did not try to make
a home for her and had another dog that did not get along too
well so he returned Trixie. I can tell you without reservation
that we are her 'forever home'.
She was nervous all evening, I suspect waiting to see if this
would end and she would have to go back. Finally when we went
to bed, she curled up at the foot of our bed and she slept the
entire night there until 5:30am when she decided it was time to
play and we got up and took her for her first walk of the day
and breakfast. Whenever one of us would get up during the night
to use the bathroom she would also get up and follow us. She seems
to want to be with one of us at all times. Luckily we can do this.
We signed up for obedience school beginning next Wednesday and
are sure she will do well. She is a very sweet tempered girl who
just needs guidance. She will be spoiled rotten here for sure.
I have always maintained that saints are my "indulgence"
to myself and I will spoil her. If you will give me a mailing
address I will send you some passes for a dinner cruise aboard
the "Spirit" sailing from Long Beach every Saturday
evening and would love to have you and your family join me. Trixie
will eventually go with me too once she is trained. The beauty
of this is that she will have the leftover chicken breasts and
prime rib to supplement her diet. I bring home the goodies and
it is all gourmet quality.
I wonder if she has been allowed in a house before as she was
completely bewildered by the television set last night. She has
also staked out her spot in front of a picture window where she
watches scores of kids walk by from the elementary school 4 doors
down the street. Her tail wags the entire time. Once she becomes
more of a known quantity we will allow her to visit with them.
I could ramble on and on and I will be writing you with her
progress frequently. I would also like to commend Brad for his
genuine concern and professionalism. He is a great asset to your
wonderful organization. I will be seeing him possibly tomorrow
to return the leash he loaned us and donate a bunch of stuff (stainless
bowls and rope marlinspike leashes etc) and when I retire in the
next couple months I will contact you to offer volunteer time.
Please give me that address to send those passes and thank you
again for all you do for these wonderful furry children.
Bill and Shelley Siegel
Trixie is adapting beautifully as you can see. She pulled her
best one last night at 4AM when Shelley got up to use the bathroom
and Trixie climbed into bed with me. Her cold nose woke me up
real quickly and we dragged her out of there. She is very playful
and we had a wonderful wrestling match tonight. It took 20 years
off me. I loved it. This dog has a super personality. We have
to go to Arizona for two days and after deliberation decided to
board her with Brad at Petopia as she seemed to be OK with the
place when we picked her up. We will have her bathed and groomed
while we are gone. I hope she won't feel rejected or abandoned,
but when we return I am sure all will be forgiven. Anyway, here
are some pictures of her. Thanks again for everything and I hope
to see you soon on the boat.
Bill
Hi Janelle,
Just to bring you up to date with our adopted 'daughter' Trixie,
she gained 12 lbs in her first two weeks. This was really encouraging.
We took her back to the vet for a 2 week re-check and the scales
confirmed she went from 93 to 105lbs. She is really blossoming
out personality-wise and our relationship just gets better with
each day. She is finally getting to where she actually seeks some
"alone time" and is beginning to feel accepted and secure.
Everyone says she seems much younger than estimated and plays
like a puppy. She runs, jumps, and loves to play tug of war with
various rope toys. Dumb as a box of rocks but you gotta love 'em.
BTW we are having the best whale watch season in years and we
run on Sat and Sun from Long Beach and San Pedro. Let me know
if you and yours would like to go and I'll put you on whatever
one you want. I'll write again soon.
Bill
