Sweet
Bud
3 Year Old Male Rough Coat
SPECIAL NEEDS
Bud is a special needs Saint who does not deserve what life has
dealt him so far. Bud's owner dropped him off at his sister's
house and told her to keep his weight down due to his hip dysplasia.
The sister contacted rescue saying she had tried to treat Bud's
medical problems at her vet but did not have the money to take
care of his on going need for treatment. We had Bud transported
to us but we were not prepared for the sight we saw.
Bud was highly emaciated and also had a case of demodectic mange,
which is a mite that affects the skin. He was missing all hair
on his lower legs and hind quarters. We took Bud to our rescue
vet immediately and waited to hear of his prognosis. During a
routine examination on the table they had to stop because he was
crying so loud. They did not know if this was due to his skin
problem or his hips hurting. After an x-ray, the vet confirmed
that he indeed had hip dysplsia, but so far was not showing any
signs of arthritis or inflammation because of it. They also started
Bud on a treatment for the mange.
When asked about the quality of life Bud would have and was he
treatable and saveable......the vet replied...."This is one
of the sweetest dogs we have ever met and if you are willing to
go the distance, Bud will make someone a wonderful pet and companion
and it's our feeling that he deserves to be saved."
Bud has shown no signs of aggression towards people or other
animals..He loves kids and got along wonderfully with the resident
cat at the vet. He is thriving in his foster home and is gaining
weight, starting to grow his hair back and is playing with his
foster-dog brothers and sisters. We are displaying Bud's before
pictures from his first week with us so you can see his progress
and potential to become an absolutely stunning Saint Bernard.
It is going to be a long haul for Bud but the worst is over. If
you would like to give Sweet Bud the loving, forever home that
he deserves please contact Lacie at (909) 906-8846 .....please
